The team

Co-Winemaker/Owner
Sarah Atwood
Sarah grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. She first fell in love with wine on the Tuscan hillsides during her first wine courses in Cortona, Italy. Eager to learn, she studied abroad at University of Stellenbosch and earned her master’s from UC Davis gaining expertise in enology, viticulture, and plant pathology. Over the years, Sarah has worked in cellars and vineyards of esteemed wineries such as Hanzell, Ridge Vineyards, and Antinori’s Tignanello estate and is currently winemaker at Au Bon Climat. Domaine Publica is a passion project that is the culmination of her and Ben’s favorite discoveries in this vast world of wine.
Co-Winemaker/Owner
Ben Enos
Ben was born and raised in Sonoma, California. He grew up in a family of local musicians and artists. After a few years of art school, Ben was inspired by his aunt who worked both as an enologist and chef to pursue a career in wine. Over the years, Ben has seen it all in the cellar and become quite the jack of all trades. He has worked making a wide range of wines in Napa, Sonoma, and New Zealand. In 2019, Ben took a 3-year sabbatical to learn metal sculpture and fabrication— so not only has Ben helped make the wine of the North Coast but also helped build several of their showcase tasting rooms. Ben has been able to flex his artistic muscles once again with Domaine Publica, each label being an image of one of his original works inspired by the public domain.

Alder Springs Vineyard

Exceptional site nestled in the redwoods of north Mendocino county, about 7 miles from the coast. If you are an ampleography buff, love seeing Korean natural farming in practice, or just a fan of south facing slopes–this has to be in your top favorite vineyard sites. Our cool climate Falanghina is truly one of a kind.
Bien Nacido

Fantastic vineyard renowned for its ability to produce high quality grapes. Refosco is planted along an alluvial fan bringing ancient mineral deposits into the sandy loam soils. Cool foggy mornings and plenty of afternoon sun allow us to ripen our Refosco perfectly while retaining plenty of acidity.
Kronfli Family Vineyard

Tucked in the hills of the Creston District in east Paso Robles might be the best spot in California to grow Assyrtiko. Special planting and Domaine Publica was fortunate enough to have first dibs. The excellence in wine quality coming from these young vines makes a strong case for planting more of this delightful variety in east Paso Robles. We love visiting this site as we are always greeted by a hard working herd of sheep, cows, and Great Pyranees.
